Technology

In this area of my website I want to bring together my experiences of technology, specifically those related to application development. Currently, most of my professional development is in .NET, SQL Server 2000, and web presentation, although I am interested in the software development process as a whole in the wider context of my work.

Without the existence of those technical blogs & community-based sites, life with my 'developer' hat on would be a great deal more frustrating. I would like to think that a blog of my own would be of some wider use in the near future. Having something to write about is a pre-requisite to my mind (!) and my reflections within the Resources section may well provide the seeds for this venture.

As well as the host of different websites, blogs, email subscriptions and rss feeds which I use to keep abreast of technology online, I also make use of O'Reilly's Safari online book service courtesy of my current employer. This is a current list of the books on my Safari bookshelf:-

  1. Applying UML and Patterns: An Introduction to Object-Oriented Analysis and Design and Iterative Development, Third Edition
  2. Business Rules and Information Systems: Aligning IT with Business Goals
  3. Effective C#: 50 Specific Ways to Improve Your C#
  4. JavaScript & DHTML Cookbook
  5. Learning UML 2.0
  6. SQL Tuning
  7. The Art of SQL
  8. UML for the IT Business Analyst: A Practical Guide to Object-Oriented Requirements Gathering
